Fermanagh Golf Club is good for wood
June 2008: Leading companies from the timber trade in Northern Ireland gathered at the picturesque Castle Hume Golf Club for the annual Wood NI Golf Day.
The event, which was sponsored by Fermanagh based machine timber specialists RTD Crawford, saw almost 80 golfers take to the green in the hope of winning one of prestigious prizes on offer, including the Wood NI Cup for the highest scoring member.
This was the second annual golf event for Wood NI, a marketing led organisation which represents many of the top timber companies in Northern Ireland, and Product Promotion Committee Chairman Seamus Sands was delighted with the turn out: “Wood NI was established only 2 years ago, in those years we have seen the membership grow to over 25 companies from throughout Northern Ireland. We were extremely pleased to have representation these companies at the golf day. The event allows our members to have a relaxing day while also offering the chance to build and develop trade relations”
After completing 18 holes on the course, the golfers were treated to a delicious meal at the Lough Erne Golf Resort after which the prize giving ceremony took place. The winning team consisted of Seamus Sands, Charlie Magill, Paddy Kelly and Gerry Horgan while Maurice Kinneer received the guest prize. The top prize of the day went to David McVeigh who was awarded the Wood NI Cup for the highest individual score.
In addition to the golf prizes, there was a further award for the student who had achieved the highest mark on the Institute of Wood Science Course.
